Spain and Qatar have reinforced their commitment to bolstering bilateral relations through enhanced diplomatic and economic collaboration, with a shared focus on international law, peaceful conflict resolution, and sustainable development. This affirmation was underscored during Spain’s National Day celebrations in Doha, where Spanish Ambassador Álvaro Renedo Zalba highlighted the importance of multilateral diplomacy amid escalating global tensions.
Ambassador Renedo Zalba emphasized the growing partnership between the two nations, praising Qatar’s contributions to regional stability. He expressed Spain’s solidarity with Qatar following recent attacks on its territory and reiterated Spain’s unwavering support for Palestinian statehood. The ambassador stressed that lasting peace must be based on international law and dialogue, opposing annexation, forced displacement, and settler violence.
Economic cooperation remains a cornerstone of Spain-Qatar relations, with Spanish companies significantly contributing to Qatar’s development in key sectors such as energy, technology, education, agriculture, and infrastructure. The two countries are also deepening institutional cooperation in security, counterterrorism, and preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Both nations are expected to continue strengthening their partnership through strategic dialogue and diplomatic initiatives, with a mutual emphasis on promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development. As part of their efforts, Spain and Qatar aim to further expand their involvement in international forums to address pressing global issues collaboratively.
