Starting in September, the streaming giant will introduce an “AI persona” label on the profiles and track listings of artists created using artificial intelligence. This initiative is designed to help listeners differentiate between actual musicians and AI-generated identities, while also shielding genuine artists from being overshadowed by content generated through AI.
Spotify’s new measures will also see AI personas being excluded from personalized recommendations by default. The company plans to allow artists to voluntarily disclose if their identities are AI-generated. Spotify has highlighted the magnitude of this issue by revealing that they removed 75 million spam tracks over a period of 12 months.
