Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between China and Germany, advocating for a collaborative approach to global economic challenges. In a phone conversation with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on Monday, Wang called for enhanced economic and strategic cooperation, underlining the benefits of mutual trust and dialogue.
During the discussion, Wang urged Germany to uphold the one-China principle and support stability across the Taiwan Strait. He highlighted the need for China and the European Union to address economic and trade differences through constructive dialogue rather than confrontation.
Wadephul acknowledged the positive momentum in Germany-China relations and expressed his support for increased high-level exchanges. He reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to the one-China policy and expressed interest in expanding cooperation in trade and economic matters.
The conversation also touched on international issues, including the situations in Iran and Ukraine. Wang assured that China remains dedicated to supporting peace initiatives and looks forward to strengthening communication with Germany and the European Union.
