Lidl Hungary Launches €162 Million Logistics Hub in Kiskunfélegyháza

-

Lidl Hungary has launched its largest logistics hub in the country, located in Kiskunfélegyháza, with an investment of nearly 60 billion forints, equivalent to about €162 million. This sprawling warehouse, covering over 83,000 square meters, is set to bolster the company’s supply chain by serving approximately 70 of its stores across Hungary.

The opening of this logistics center has already created more than 400 job opportunities, with plans to recruit an additional 50 employees in the near future. The facility is equipped with 194 loading docks and features a 24,000-square-meter refrigerated section, underscoring its capacity to handle a high volume of goods efficiently.

Emphasizing sustainability, the logistics center incorporates energy-saving technologies, including a 9,000-square-meter solar panel installation on its roof. Additionally, it utilizes waste heat from its refrigeration units for underfloor heating, aligning with Lidl’s commitment to eco-friendly practices. Surrounding the warehouse is a 10,000-square-meter biodiverse green area, enhancing the ecological value of the site.

This new center is expected to significantly enhance Lidl’s distribution capabilities, with approximately 4,500 pallets of goods anticipated to be dispatched daily. This development aims to reinforce Lidl’s nationwide supply network, facilitating the retailer’s ongoing expansion within Hungary.

Currently, Lidl operates 220 stores throughout Hungary, with nearly 60% of its products sourced from local suppliers. The establishment of this logistics center is a strategic move to support Lidl’s growth trajectory and strengthen its operational framework in the Hungarian market.
